(C) जीवन अवधी के आधार पर :- इस आधार पर पादपों की निम्न तीन श्रेणियाँ बनायी गयी है-

(i) एकवर्षीय :- ये पादप अपना जीवन चक्र एक ऋतु में या कुछ सप्ताह या कुछ महीनों में पूर्ण कर लेते है। ये पादप इसी समय अवधी के दौरान पुष्प और फल बनाकर मर जाते  हैं । 

   जैसे:- सरसों, मटर, मक्का आदि।

(ii) द्विवर्षीय :- ये पादप अपना जीवन चक्र दो ऋतुओं में पूर्ण करते है। प्रथम ऋतु में ये कायिक वृद्धि करते है और अगली ऋतु में ये पुष्प, फल, बीज बनाते है।  

जैसे:- गाजर, मूली, शलजम आदि ।

(iii) बहुवर्षीय :- ये पादप कई वर्षों तक वृद्धि करते है। 

   जैसे:- आडू, सेव ।

• बहुवर्षीय पादप एक फलनीय (जिनमें अपने जीवनकाल में केवल एकबार पुष्पन और फलन होता है जैसे:- बाँस, सेन्चुरी पादप, स्ट्रोबलेन्थस केंथिआना ) या बहुफलनीय ( जिनमें अपने जीवनकाल में कई बार पुष्पन और फलन होता है जैसे:- आम, नाशपती आदि) हो सकते हैं।

English Translation 

(C) On the basis of life span :- On this basis the following three categories of plants have been made-

 (i) Annual :- These plants complete their life cycle in a season or in a few weeks or a few months. These plants die after forming flowers and fruits during this period.

  For example: Mustard, Peas, Maize etc.

 (ii) Biennial :- These plants complete their life cycle in two seasons. In the first season they grow vegetatively and in the next season they produce flowers, fruits and seeds.

 For example:- Carrot, radish, turnip etc.

 (iii) Perennial :- These plants grow for many years.

 For example:- peach, apple.

 • Perennial plants are single-fruited (in which flowering and fruiting occurs only once in their lifetime eg:- bamboo, century plant, Stroblanthus kenthiana) or multi-fruited (in which flowering and fruiting takes place several times in their lifetime eg:- mango, pear etc.) Can be
