 (2) न्युमेटोफोर्स / श्वसन मूल (Pneumatophore / Respiratory roots):-

• न्युमेटोफोर्स या श्वसन मूल छोटी , उदग्र और ऋणात्मक गुरूत्वानुवर्ती जड़ें होती है जो मँग्रोव वनस्पति (पादप जो दलदल में उगते हैं) में पायी जाती है। ये जड़ें दलदल से बाहर आ जाती है।

• इनके ऊपरी भाग पर गैसों के आदान प्रदान हेतु कुछ विशिष्ट छिद्र पाये जाते है जिन्हें वातरन्ध्र या न्युमेटोथॉइडस कहते हैं।

• न्युमेटोफोर्स की उपस्थिति राइजोफोरेसी कुल का विभेदात्मक लक्षण होता है। 

 जैसे- राइजोफोरा (Rhizophora), एविसिनिया (Avicennia), हेरिटियरा (Heretiera), सोनेरेसिया (Sonneratia) आदि।

(2) Pneumatophores / Respiratory roots:-

 • Pneumatophores or respiratory roots are short, vertical and negative gravity roots found in mangrove vegetation (plants that grow in swamps). These roots come out of the swamp.

• Some specific holes are found on their upper part for the exchange of gases, which are called stomata or pneumatothoids.

• The presence of pneumatophores is the distinguishing feature of the family Rhizophoraceae.

* Such as Rhizophora, Avicennia, Heretiera, Sonneratia etc.
