3. अपस्थानिक जड़ें जो अतिरिक्त यांत्रिक सामर्थ्य प्रदान करती है 

ये निम्न प्रकार की होती है-

(i) अवस्तम्भ मूल (Prop roots / Pillar roots) :- 

• ये जड़े भारी शाखाओं को अतिरिक्त यांत्रिक सामर्थ्य प्रदान करने हेतु तने की शाखाओं से पिलर की तरह विकसित होती है।

• ये जड़ें उदग्र नीचे की ओर वृद्धि करती है। 

जैसे बरगद (फाइकस बेंगालेन्सिस)

(ii) जटा मूल (Brace/stilt root):- 

• ये तने की निचली पर्वसंधियों से गोल चक्र के रूप में उत्पन्न मजबूत तिरछी जड़ें होती है। 

• ये जड़ें मृदा में नीचे की ओर तिरछी वृद्धि करती है।

• ये जड़ें लम्बे अशाखित तने को एक T.V. के लम्बे एंटिना पाइप को सामर्थ्य प्रदान करने वाले तारों के समान अतिरिक्त सामर्थ्य प्रदान करती है। 

जैसे- गन्ना, मक्का, स्कुपाइन (पेन्डानस), बाजरा

3. The adventitious roots which provide additional mechanical strength are of the following types-

(i) Prop roots / Pillar roots-

• These roots develop like pillars from the branches of the stem to provide additional mechanical strength to the heavy branches.

• These roots grow vertically downwards.

Like banyan (Ficus bengalensis)

(ii) Brace/stilt root:-

• These are strong oblique roots produced in the form of a round circle from the lower nodes of the stem.

• These roots grow obliquely down into the soil.

• These roots give long unbranched stem a T.V. The longer antenna provides additional strength similar to the wires powering the pipe.
