तने के रूपान्तरण (Modifications of stem) :-

• कुछ विशिष्ट कार्य करने हेतू तना रूपान्तरित होता है और तने की भूमि पर स्थिति के आधार पर ये रूपान्तरण निम्न प्रकार के होते हैं-

(A) वायवीय रूपान्तरण (Aerial Modifications) :- 

(a) प्रतान (Tendrill) :-  कभी-कभी कक्षस्थ कलिका या पुष्पीय कलिका , लम्बी , पतली ,सर्पिलाकार कुण्डलित संरचना में रूपान्तरित हो जाती है जिन्हें प्रतान कहते है।

* प्रतान स्पर्श के प्रति संवेदनशील होते है ।

जैसे:- 

पेसीफ्लोरा - कक्षस्थ कलिका 

एन्टीगोनन - पुष्पीय कलिका

वाइटिस विनिफेरा (अंगुर) - शीर्षस्थ कलिका

कुकुरबिटा (टिण्डा), कुकुमिस (खीरा) , लुफा - अतिरिक्त कक्षस्थ कलिका

(b) कण्टक (Thorne) :-  अधिकांश पादपों में कक्षस्थ या शीर्षस्थ कलिका कठोर, नुकीले काँटों में रूपान्तरित हो जाती है। 

जैसे- नींबू, बोगनबिलिया आदि । 

English Translation 

Modifications of stem :-

• To perform some specific work, the stem is modified and on the basis of the position of the stem on the ground, these modifications are of the following types-

(A) Aerial Modifications :-

(a) Tendrill :- Sometimes axillary bud or floral bud is modified into long, thin, spiral coiled structure called tendril.

* Tendons are sensitive to touch.

As:-

passiflora - apical bud

antigonon - flower bud

Vitis vinifera (grapes) - apical bud

Cucurbita (Tinda), Cucumis (Cucumber), Lufa - Extra apical bud

(b) Thorn :- In most of the plants the axillary or apical bud gets modified into hard, pointed thorns.

Like- lemon, bougainvillea etc.
