तना (Stem)
(Characteristic features of stem):-
(a) शीर्षस्थ कलिका (Terminal or apical bud) :- ये शाखाओं के शीर्ष पर होती है।

English Translation
Stem
• The stem is usually the growing part of the plant axis, usually formed by the elongation of the embryonic stem.
• Which is often positive light-dependent, negative gravity-dependent and negative water-dependent and in which growth is done by the apical bud and differentiation is found in internodes and internodes.
• The leafy part of the stem is called shoot.
• There are buds on the stem.
• There may be multicellular hairs on the outer surface of the stem.
• Lateral branches (exogenous in origin) arise from the cortex of the stem.
Characteristic features of stem:-
• It is usually positive light-following, negative gravity-following and negative water-following.
• Young stem is green and herbaceous while mature can be woody and dark brown in colour.
• Differentiation is found in festivals and festivals.
Stem – holds leaves, flowers, fruits and buds.
• If follicles are present then they are multicellular.
• The origin of lateral branches in the stem is exogenous. (from superficial meristem of cortex)
• The part of the stem which bears the leaves is called shoot.
Bud :-
• The bud is a condensed underdeveloped shoot which has a dome shaped growing point and is surrounded by immature leaves. There are many types of buds -
1. Vegetative buds :- These buds develop and form vegetative shoots.
It can be of the following types-
(a) Terminal or apical bud :- It is present at the top of the branches.
(b) Axillary bud :- It is found in the axil of the leaves. It grows to form branches or flowers of the stem.
(c) Accessory buds :- These are additional buds which are found on one side of the axillary bud.
(d) Adventitious buds :- The buds which develop from a place other than those mentioned above are called adventitious buds.
It can be of the following types:-
(i) Cauline buds :- These arise directly from the stem.
Like Artocarpus (Jackfruit)
(ii) Radical buds :- are produced on the roots.
eg sweet potato, delbergia
(iii) Follar buds :- These buds develop on the leaves.
Like Bryophyllum, Begonia, Kelonchi etc.
3. Modified buds :- These can be both vegetative or floral buds.
* naked buds - in tropical region
